He hails from Mkpat Enin LGA of Akwa Ibom State, and is an academic, rural sociologist, agricultural development expert, youth mobilization specialist and environmental consultant. His strengths subsist in his enthusiastic, pragmatic, focused, visionary and results-oriented approaches to the solution of human, agricultural and rural development challenges.

As an academic, he became a Professor in 2008 and has been involved in teaching, research and extension activities. In the process, he has served as Head of Department, and has chaired or served as member of several statutory University bodies and Investigation Panels. He has also supervised 121 undergraduate and 30 postgraduate students and has to his credit, 165 publications [65 technical papers, 65 journal articles, 16 invited papers, 9 (nine) conference proceedings, ten (10) books/ book chapters]. He also attracted a World Bank grant of N71 million to the University of Uyo, which has been used for the multiplication of fish fingerlings, cassava seeds and day-old chicks. This has culminated in the location of agricultural projects in fourteen (14) communities and six (6) secondary schools in the State.

He has also attracted a bio-gas digester (to produce clean energy (electricity) with the aid of raw materials) into a rural community in the State. Of recent, he has facilitated the registration of the University of Uyo as a Service Provider Operator in the Farm Mechanization Equipment Hire Scheme of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
